What
is a rain chain?
Rain chains are an aesthetically pleasing substitute
for traditional unattractive plastic downspouts. Their
origins can be traced back to Japan and this wonderful
little example of human ingenuity has been around for
centuries. Rain chains are used to gently direct rainwater
from your roof gutter down a copper chain to the ground
or into large basins.
Why purchase a Rain Chain?
Rain chains offer you a great deal. Not only
are they beautiful, but they also offer personality
to your home or patio. Whether you are just looking
for a copper accent to your home or garden decor, adding
curb appeal, looking for a feature in a Zen garden or
a water/ movement piece for Feng Shui, you can find
all of this with a rain chain. As the water flows
down the chain, a lovely water feature is created before
your eyes!
Why Copper Rain Chains?
Copper develops a beautiful patina when left
outside. First turning a dark penny brown, and eventually,
as it reacts with the rain, it will turn into an eye-catching
verdigris color.
Copper is a metal that does not react with water (H2O), but the oxygen of the air will react slowly at room temperature to form a layer of brown-black copper oxide on copper metal.
It is important to note that in contrast to the oxidation of iron by wet air that the layer formed by the reaction of air with copper has a protective effect against further corrosion.
Copper has stood the test of time to earn customer satisfaction and wide code acceptance. Copper, used for centuries, has gained new popularity in its modern form: light, strong, corrosion-resistant, germicidal, etc. Its long-lasting and maintenance-free characteristics make copper the leading choice for different systems.
Copper rain chains Natural finish last longer, is more durable and it does not rust and leave stains...unlike Iron or Aluminum rain chains.

Do I need special equipment for a Rain Chain?
Not usually. Our rain chains, for example,
are supplied with an attachment piece "Triangular
Copper Hanger". Simply remove your downspout &
insert the attachment piece into the hole in the gutter.
Or purchase our gutter reducers incase your rain gutter
opening is larger than standard gutter opening.

Where does the water drains to?
Many people just leave their rain chain hanging
freely and allow the water to run off into the ground.
But keeping in mind "water harvesting" we
recommend you store the water for reuse in our powder-coated
basin or copper hammered basin.
Maintenance
Rain chains need little maintenance, except checking your gutter for debris, as you would with a normal downspout.
Can rain chains be used in winters?
Rain Chains can work in almost any
environment, even in the winter when the water comes
down and it turns to ice, like a beautiful "Icicle".
A heavy build up of ice, while pretty, could weigh down
on your gutter and cause damage, so make sure your gutter
are securely fastened to your roof.
Link Rain Chains are best suited in area with heavy snowfall and we have an assortment of styles to suit your taste.
What is the function of a Rain Chain?
Like a downspout, rain chains allow a steady flow of water off your roof from the rain gutter. Unlike a downspout a rain chain allows you to watch the cascading water through the cups or links with the soothing sound of flowing water. Cup styles tend to offer a more tinkling sound than the link styles.
